The Kanabec County Courthouse is an addition and remodel of
the existing building. The first courthouse was built in 1894 with additions to the
structure in 1937, and 1973. The building is listed as a historic landmark with many of
the original fixtures still intact. Remodeling the existing structure involved bringing
the building up to current code requirements both structurally and for ADA access. The
addition is a 40,000 sf four story steel and precast structure with a brick exterior to
match the existing building. This project will be complete at the end of December 1999.
